HARTSACK PURPLE

Family heirloom, from the USA. Large, dark pink, up to one pound, round, slightly flattened beefsteak type fruit.

Older variety from the USA, probably from the Hartsack family like its cousin "Hartsack Yellow". Featured in the 1998 Seed Savers Yearbook by Dorothy Beiswenger.

Large, dark pink fruit up to a pound, round, slightly flattened with slightly rounded and ribbed shoulders. Very wide and deep depression at the stem attachment, from which cracks may appear in the talwegs.

Juicy and dense beef flesh, very small lodges containing few seeds. Excellent sweet taste.

Plant with average development, regular foliage, indeterminate growth.

Average production from mid-season to frost.
