A native of West Virginia, it was introduced by Peter Henderson & Co of New York in 1914.

Synonyms: Ponderosa golden , Rose Ponderosa ,Henderson's Ponderosa .

Large, round, orange-yellow fruit, 300-500 grams, flattened and heavily ribbed at the shoulders. Cluster of 4 to 6 fruits on a small plant not exceeding 1.30 m. The depression at the stem attachment is corky and deep, the umbilicus trace is variable.

The flesh is yellow, mottled with pink, dense and juicy, with a mild and sweet taste.

Fragile variety with poor disease resistance and a high tendency to burst.
